PWDs in COVID 19 in Nepal<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Experts say that people with disabilities in Nepal require special care and attention during the COVID-19 pandemic. A lack of adequate facilities makes them vulnerable to the virus, according to this article<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Persons with disabilities in Nepal are adversely affected by this COVID-19 pandemic and their lives have been put at risk due to the abrupt and unsystematic nationwide lockdown by the Nepal Government. Persons with disabilities are not a homogenous group and, therefore, their needs or requirements differ based on their individual identity and condition. However, the Nepal Government\u2019s blanket approach to address the needs or requirements of people in such humanitarian crises always seems ignorant of these facts. More about these facts can be found in this current study<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Approximately 46% of people with disabilities think that the awareness materials and information disseminated on COVID-19 are very less accessible for them and 15% think that they are completely inaccessible for them. 69% among the people with disabilities who think that the awareness materials are inaccessible or less accessible for them represent the category of ‘complete disability’ and ‘severe disability’. We have gathered this data from a recent assessment<\/a> done by the National Federation of the Disabled- Nepal<\/a>.<\/p>\n
